Grocery Bar East Melbourne

We love this little gem tucked away from the busy-ness of East Melbourne. The staff are always so friendly and welcoming, and the coffee and focaccias never disappoint. Recommend to anyone after yummy food, great coffee and a warm atmosphere.

Great little find after a nearby medical appointment. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Food was delicious with quite the variety. Chicken Avo focaccia was yum, calamari & chorizo dish was top notch. Will return post next appointment and keep making our way through the menu.

The best coffee on the block! Great food, delicious food to dine in and also took home a sweet treat to keep me going through the day! The service and staff were friendly and attentive. 10/10 recommend to everyone

You can usually tell how good a place is by the patrons. Today, a big breakfast at The Grocery Bar which was bubbling over with people. The queue was about five deep but my o see of eggs Benedict with ham and a hot chocolate was at my ‘table for one’ in under ten minutes. The serving was generous with two English muffins, cut in half so there was plenty to eat. Eggs cooked well and again a generous serving of ham. The patrons were varied - a mother with her toddler in a high chair, a family of 5, a couple, business attired people and an elderly woman doing the crossword. This is why I travel. This is what makes reviewing enjoyable. I get to watch how humans interact and sometimes I strike up a conversation with people who are often grateful for the chit chat. As I left I could see a line of coffee cups, both disposable but amusingly resueable, all in different shapes and sizes and colours. The word is out - reuseable cups! Staff were fabulous. Hands down one of the best cafes I’ve been to! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and makes it the perfect place to catch up with family and friends. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive - made our experience so positive! Highly recommend Grocery Bar!

This cafe is an excellent place to stop in for great coffee and sumptuous brunch. There are tasty sandwiches and pastries to take away or dine, they also serve butter chicken, chicken burger and beef lasagna at very reasonable prices, this is a hidden gem in East Melbourne near Albert Street, next to IGA, coffee was excellent and great customer service and environment. They also have vegetarian muffins.

This place is a lovely hidden gem. As soon as we walked through the doors we were warmly welcomed but the lovely staff. My sister and I opted for the shakshouka on the specials board. Wow was that good! The flavour in the sauce was spot on and with all the different veggies throughout made the meal so enjoyable. We also got a side of bacon and mushrooms each & they were just as lovely. We don’t live near the city but when we come back we will definitely be coming back here.
